ShareTimers ยท Last updated 20 July 2026
ShareTimers has no accounts and no sign-in. We don't ask who you are, and we don't use analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind. The only thing stored on our servers is the timer or stopwatch itself, so that everyone you share the link with sees the same clock.
What is stored
When you start a timer or share a stopwatch, we store:
- The label you typed, if any (for example "Pasta").
- The duration, start/end time, and current status โ running, paused, or finished.
- For stopwatches, the lap times you record.
- Your device's time zone name (for example
America/New_York), so the app can show the finish time correctly for everyone viewing it.
That is the entire record. It is not linked to a name, email address, account, or device identifier, because we don't have any.
What is not collected
- No name, email address, phone number, or account.
- No analytics, usage tracking, advertising, or third-party trackers.
- No crash-reporting or telemetry SDKs.
- No access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or GPS location.
- No push-notification tokens. Timer alerts are scheduled locally on your own device.
Anyone with the link can see and change it. A shared timer or stopwatch has no password. Its link contains a random, unguessable ID, but anyone who has that link can view the clock, and can also start, pause, extend, or reset it. That is how sharing works. Please don't put anything private or sensitive in a timer label.
Stored on your device
The app keeps a short list of the timers and stopwatches you recently created or opened, so they reappear when you come back. This list lives only on your device and is never sent to us. Deleting the app, or clearing your browser's site data on the web, removes it.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, alerts are scheduled and fired by your own device when a timer runs out. They are not sent from our servers, and we never receive a push token or know that an alert fired.
Service providers
Timers and stopwatches are stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), and the website and share links are served by Vercel. As part of operating their infrastructure, these providers may automatically log technical request data such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps. We don't use that data to build profiles and we don't combine it with your timers.
Retention and deletion
Timers and stopwatches are kept so that previously shared links keep working rather than breaking. Cancelling a timer in the app marks it finished but does not erase the record. If you want a specific timer or stopwatch permanently deleted, send us its link and we'll remove it.
Children
ShareTimers is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because the app does not collect personal information at all.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
